Way to go Warren United Methodist Church!

November 30, 2005

Here's a story that should make us all proud. Warren United Methodist Church in South Dallas decided unanimously to rebuild their church (which had been ruined by fire) in the same community it has always been. There had been some thought about taking the insurance money and heading out to a suburb where they could likely find lots of quick growth. Dallas Morning News | News for Dallas, Texas | Religion

Many churches over the last several decades have fled the cities as community demographics changed or as wealthy suburbs emerged. Such a move sends a message to the community that they are not wanted by church. Such a move is a slap in the face of those literally left behind. That is why is always great to see a church that recognizes the ministry opportunities right before them and decides to stay and share the love of Jesus. Kudos to Warren United Methodist!
