In Government We Trust

February 10, 2006

Indiana legislators are considering putting "In God We Trust" on some state license plates. Though the plates would be optional, some argue that the measure is a waste of time and inappropriate mixing of church and state.

While those proposing this may mean well, their faith is misplaced. As Christians we should not need the government to tell us we trust in God. It is our job to communicate the message to all peoples. Additionally, our faith should remain the same regardless what the government (or its license plates) say or do not say. It is time to live out that catchy slogan and not just try and engrave it.
