Celebrating Baptist Unity

October 03, 2007

My latest column came out recently in the BGCM E-Message, the free monthly email newsletter of the Baptist General Convention of Missouri. It is entitled "Celebrating Baptist Unity" and deals with recent comments by new Baptist World Alliance leader Dr. Neville Callam. Here are some excerpts:

In October, the Baptist General Convention of Missouri and other Missouri Baptists will host Dr. Neville Callam, the new leader of the Baptist World Alliance. These are truly exciting days for Baptists in Missouri and around the world! It is exciting to be part of a state convention that is not only focused on sharing the love of Jesus in our communities but to the uttermost parts of the world.

... Baptists have been tragically divided for many years, which has hurt our Christian witness. During the conflict, the ministry of the BWA has been the target of inaccurate and un-Christlike attacks. Hopefully, however, a new day is coming. The BGCM will be part of that movement to unite Baptists together for the sake of the Gospel.

Join us in praying for the work of the BWA and Baptist unity. Join us in supporting the ministry of the BWA. Please also join us in praying for and even attending the Celebration in January. Finally, we hope that you will join us in welcoming Dr. Callam to Missouri.
In the article are some great comments from Dr. Callam.
