Stockholm Syndrome

July 20, 2009

Derek Webb's latest album, Stockholm Syndrome, is available on his website. It is another great album from Webb, whose lyrics offer important and challenging messages that Christians need to hear and think about. My favorite song on the album is his controversial one, "What Matters More." Other good ones are "The State," "The Spirit vs. the Kick Drum," "Freddy Please," and "Cobra Con." This album is right up there with Mockingbird, which is my favorite of his albums.

There has been some controversy surrounding the language in "What Matters More" (which you can hear here). But the complaints are proving his point--we seem more upset by the use of a certain word than the fact that tens of thousands of people die each day from poverty.
