I Will WaitDecember 19, 2012
Scanning through radio stations yesterday looking for Christmas songs, I stopped when I heard "I will wait," a fantastic song by Mumford & Sons. Although I had heard the song before, it had not dawned on me until listening to it yesterday that it is a great song for Advent as it could almost be heard as a prayerful longing. Here we are in this season of waiting, yearning, hoping for the coming of the Messiah. We long for the time, O God, when we can fall "heavy into your arms" and when "these days of darkness which we've known will blow away with this new sun." We know, O God, "You forgave and I won't forget." So, O God, please "raise my hands, paint my spirit gold, and bow my head, keep my heart slow." But until that day, what else can we do but "kneel down, wait for now."
