Citizenship Forum

March 12, 2013

Last night, I moderated a citizenship forum sponsored by the Office of Madison Institutes at James Madison University. The forum is one of many events this week to celebrate the inauguration of JMU's new president. The topic for the forum was "How do we work together and repair an ailing society?" with a focus on the role of higher education in promoting community engagement, civic engagement, and ethical decision making. The event started with me moderating a discussion with three experts (the photo is of that part). Then everyone present broke into three groups to dialogue about one of the three focus areas. Finally, everyone came back together to report on their discussions and continue the conversation. The JMU blog "Be the Change" has a short write-up about the forum here.
