10 Years at Churchnet

April 30, 2013

Earlier this month, Churchnet held its annual gathering. Churchnet is a ministry of the Baptist General Convention of Missouri (BGCM), which started eleven years ago. Word&Way covered this year's annual gathering, which was held at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City. One article reports on Churchnet's new president (Donna Potts) and other key business, and another article highlights comments by Bible study leader Wallace Hartsfield II. This month also marked a decade since I started working for Churchnet (the photo is from a presentation I made at a BGCM annual gathering several years ago). In April of 2003 - just as I was graduating with my B.A. from Southwest Baptist University - I started working for the BGCM (as it was known back then) as the Special Assistant to the Executive Director (who at the time was H.K. Neely). As my duties shifted some, my title changed to Communications Specialist and then to its current form of Editorial Assistant. It is hard to think I have been serving there for ten years; and while I remain the youngest staffer I have been there the longest, so I am both young and old! It has been great to be part of the fantastic ministries of BGCM/Churchnet and it has opened doors for many opportunities I would not have otherwise experienced. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this innovative and caring parachurch ministry.
