I’d Like to Buy an EnemyFebruary 05, 2014
I'd Like to Buy an Enemy. Actors Ted Swartz and Tim Ruebke tackle critical issues of faith, war, peace, and rhetoric (the photo is not from this play but one I took of Swartz when he performed solo at the Clarence Jordan Symposium in 2012). The play is hilarious, educational, and thought-provoking. As a scholar of political rhetoric, I particularly enjoyed the references to political warmongering ads and speeches, as well as the parts of the play that focused on exposing how language is misused to perpetuate war. I highly recommend this play, but be warned that it will cause you to laugh, think, and squirm.
