Yesterday I visited the studio of JCTV (local access channel) to serve as a panelist on the show FOCUS. Hosted by my friend W. T. Edmonson, the show often deals with community issues involving religion and politics.

This episode focused on public transportation issues and an advocacy event being held tomorrow (April 30). My fellow panelists were: Vicki Schildmeyer, Paula Schulte, and Tonny Hammond. We brought diverse backgrounds and experiences to the 30-minute discussion.

That main points I made during the conversation included the importance of public transportation in building community (by providing accessibility), the importance of setting priorities first (and then asking budget questions), and how showing up at advocacy events is a form of voting.

The April 30th advocacy event we talked about is Ride the Bus Day. I hope there will be a good turnout to show local politicians the importance of public transportation.

You can watch the whole program on JCTV or online.
