Trump's Meeting with Conservative Christians Sparks Definitional Issues

June 24, 2016

When 1,000 Christian pastors and leaders trekked to New York City for a meeting with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, the media reported on the event as if nearly all of Christianity was endorsing him. It's troubling to see so many pastors line up behind a thrice-married casino mogul known for vulgarity, bigotry, and racism. But it's even more troubling to watch this hurt the image of Christianity.

I wrote for Ethics Daily about two key issues that emerged as a result of the meeting. The article, Trump's Meeting with Conservative Christians Sparks Definitional Issues, notes the treatment of the words "evangelicals" and "endorsed." I hope the piece helps clarify what's going on and will spark more careful consideration.
