As Global Baptists Meet, Attempts to Reconcile Differences over Relief Work Highlight Agenda

July 11, 2016

My latest Baptist News Global article reports on last week's annual gathering of the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) in Vancouver. The piece, As Global Baptists Meet, Attempts to Reconcile Differences over Relief Work Highlight Agenda, includes comments from an interview I did with BWA President Paul Msiza of South Africa. And the article includes a photo I took of him (second one below).

Key issues from the meeting are covered in the article, including conflict over how to best organize for relief and development work, transitions in the North American Baptist Fellowship (NABF), and the three resolutions passed (on refugees, Nigeria, and the Paris Agreement). It was a great week as more than 300 Baptists from more than 50 nations gathered together.

My Ethics Daily colleague shot a video interview with new NABF President Sam Tolbert (pictured on the right in the last photo above). Tolbert spoke in April at the Churchnet annual gathering and I'm excited about his new leadership role.
