BWA President Visits My OfficeMarch 03, 2017
Baptist World Alliance President Paul Msiza (from South Africa) came to Jefferson City, Mo., for a couple of days. I've met and interviewed Paul before at BWA meetings, but this was his first trip to our area. On Wednesday afternoon, he stopped by my office so I could interview him for a Q&A piece that will appear in the April issue of Word&Way. We also talked about Churchnet and our involvement in the BWA.
Later that day, Paul preached during the Ash Wednesday service at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City. He gave a powerful message for the start of the season of Lent as he reflected on pain and suffering with contemporary examples in Syria and personal examples from apartheid in South Africa as a child.
The next day, Paul spoke at Churchnet's Board of Directors meeting. With Paul's visit, we have now hosted every BWA General Secretary (2) and BWA President (3) since Churchnet became a member body of the BWA. Paul shared his passion for the BWA and his desire for Baptists around the world to connect. It was a privilege to hear his report at our meeting.
