Baptist Day of Action for Dreamers

Today, Baptist leaders from multiple denominational bodies in the U.S. are urging Baptists to contact U.S. congressional members to urge action to protect "Dreamers" (undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children). Due to executive action by President Donald Trump, Dreamers are losing their protected status and could soon face deportation. Although they would be sent to the nation of their birth, for many it would be a land they do not know and where they have no connections. Trump's action could result in the deportation of 800,000 people.

This is a moral crisis. Our nation is failing the test Jesus outlined in Matthew 25. Trump is making America goat again.

The "Baptist Call-in Day for Dreamers" was launched by EthicsDaily.com and I was happy to sign the declaration as a leader of Word&Way and Churchnet. Other signers include leaders from American Baptist Churches USA, Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America, Baptist World Alliance, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, National Baptist Convention of America, and many more organizations and churches.

Learn more and sign-up here. And, then, look up your national lawmakers. Call Congress today to urge action to protect Dreamers.
